Sex In The City Has Fizzled For Me

The Ladies Of New York City! During my 40's I absolutely loved this series. I once spent a 3 day holiday doing nothing but watching Sex In The City, Season 1 from beginning to end. I was in 7th heaven, nestled in my bed, munching on popcorn and living vicariously through the girl's New York lives. (Obviously I was divorced with grown children or the 3 day veg out would never have been possible. I love being single for just this reason).
My life has never been as exciting or fashion rich as what the girl's lives were. Instead, I lived in a small town where jeans were considered dress up (as long as they were clean). I longed to be a New York resident and strut the cat walk of the busy streets of New York, whipping my hair, hiding behind my designer dark sunglasses, in 3 inch heels. It all seemed amazing to me at the time.
Fast forward 12 years and suddenly the girl's lives seemed a bit (shall I say it?) shallow. Their conversation was uninteresting and their fashion choices a bit hideous at times. Age has a way of making you realize that all that glitters, isn't gold. Sometimes it's just simply fools gold with no value or worth.
I like to think that age has provided me with wisdom, strength and a much needed sense of humor about life's truths. Living in a small town has it's perks and benefits. Such as when I'm too, tired from working 10 hours to dress up, I can throw on my (clean) jeans, head to town and still be dressed appropriately. If I had to dress to the nine to buy milk, I'd have to give up dairy products all together. Maybe this is why home grocery delivery is so popular in the big cities! I'm not the only one wasted at the end of the day, looking like the dog drug me three blocks home.
Sex In The City was a fun ride which I will always remember fondly. And to keep those fond memories in tact, I will forgo watching any more reruns! I actually found myself cringing at the ladies topics of conversations and the lack of true substance in their lives. And incredibly so, I found myself wondering my Carrie spent so much time worrying about Big! Big, the man upon who all fantasy dreams were based. Frankly, Carrie needed to give Big the boot. Smart women; foolish choices. Need I say more?
Question: Has anyone revisited The Sex In The City sitcom lately? Did you relive the high you once felt or were you slightly appalled that you hero worshipped the girls?
